Gameweek 7 recap: Pedro Neto runs riot and the best possible XI
Gameweek 7 was UnderPar's first Gameweek on underpar.uk. Here's who went furthest under par, who had a weekend to forget, and the best team anyone could have picked.
The results
| Everton 0–2 Chelsea |
| Brentford 1–2 Liverpool |
| Fulham 1–0 Hull City |
| Manchester City 3–2 Ipswich Town |
| Newcastle 0–1 Aston Villa |
| Bournemouth 2–0 Sunderland |
| Brighton 5–0 Crystal Palace |
| Leeds 1–1 Manchester United |
| Nottingham Forest 0–1 Arsenal |
| Tottenham 3–1 Coventry City |
Furthest under par
| Player | PAR | Rating | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pedro Neto (Chelsea) | 7.0 | 9.3 | −2.3 |
| Florian Wirtz (Liverpool) | 7.1 | 8.7 | −1.6 |
| James Maddison (Spurs) | 6.7 | 8.3 | −1.6 |
| Charalampos Kostoulas (Brighton) | 7.1 | 8.6 | −1.5 |
| Evanilson (Bournemouth) | 7.4 | 8.8 | −1.4 |
Pedro Neto's 9.3 in Chelsea's win at Everton was the rating of the weekend, and with a PAR of just 7.0 he finished 2.3 under. Evanilson shows a high PAR is no barrier: at 7.4 he had one of the toughest marks in the game and still finished 1.4 under in Bournemouth's win over Sunderland.
A day to forget
| Player | PAR | Rating | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kevin Danso (Sunderland) | 6.5 | 3.5 | +3.0 |
| Carl Rushworth (Coventry) | 6.4 | 3.7 | +2.7 |
| Jaydee Canvot (Crystal Palace) | 6.5 | 4.2 | +2.3 |
| Yehor Yarmoliuk (Brentford) | 6.9 | 4.8 | +2.1 |
| Omar Alderete (Sunderland) | 6.7 | 4.8 | +1.9 |
Defenders and keepers on the wrong end of a heavy defeat always suffer, and Palace's 5–0 loss at Brighton made it a weekend to avoid their back line. A few big names also hurt anyone who picked them off the bench: Antoine Semenyo and Elliot Anderson came on for Manchester City and both finished more than a point over par.
The best possible XI
This is the lowest-scoring team anyone could have picked within the rules: one keeper, at least three defenders and three midfielders, up to three attackers, and players from at least six clubs.
| Pos | Player | Score |
|---|---|---|
| GK | Zion Suzuki (Aston Villa) | −0.9 |
| DEF | Diogo Dalot (Man United) | −1.4 |
| DEF | Olivier Boscagli (Brighton) | −1.3 |
| DEF | Josh Acheampong (Chelsea) | −1.3 |
| MID | James Maddison (Spurs) | −1.6 |
| MID | Alex Iwobi (Fulham) | −1.4 |
| MID | Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool) | −1.1 |
| MID | Mateo Kovačić (Man City) | −1.1 |
| ATT | Pedro Neto (Chelsea) | −2.3 |
| ATT | Florian Wirtz (Liverpool) | −1.6 |
| ATT | Charalampos Kostoulas (Brighton) | −1.5 |
That team would have scored −15.5. Aston Villa's Matty Cash (−1.1) could have replaced Kovačić for the same total. Not one of its players had a PAR above 7.3, which is the whole idea of UnderPar: the best picks were solid players in good fixtures, not the biggest stars.
