About UnderPar

UnderPar is fantasy football scored like golf. It's made by Journeyman, a small independent football games team based in the UK.

Who we are

We're football fans who watch too much of it and argue about it even more. We got tired of fantasy games where everyone ends up with the same team: the same striker, the same captain, the same points. So we built a game where picking the obvious player is often the wrong call.

UnderPar is free to play. There's no budget, no transfers to plan and no bench. You pick a fresh XI every Gameweek, and the lowest score wins.

How UnderPar works

Every Premier League player gets a PAR before each Gameweek. It's the FotMob match rating we expect him to get in that fixture. A star player at home to a struggling side carries a high PAR. A squad player away at the champions carries a low one.

After the match, each of your players scores his PAR minus his real FotMob rating. Beat the PAR and you go under, just like in golf. Add up your 11 and the lowest total wins.

How we set the PARs

PARs come from our own model. It looks at each player's ratings over the season so far, how strong both teams are, where the match is played and the latest team news. A person then checks every Gameweek's PARs before they go live, looking for anything that seems off, like an injured player or a big rotation risk.

Each Gameweek opens with draft PARs as soon as the previous one locks. Once that Gameweek is finished we update the draft PARs once from the latest performances and tell anyone whose players changed. After that PARs are final and never changed. The only exception is a clear data mistake spotted before anyone has entered, and we say so when that happens. Every past Gameweek stays on the site exactly as it was published.

Our daily games

Alongside UnderPar we make four free daily puzzles. Each one has a new answer every day at midnight UK time.

Career Path: name every club in a player's career, then guess his league goals at each one.
League Ladder: name the club from its final league positions over ten seasons.
Scorelines: name the club from its real results in one Premier League season.
Surnames: guess a footballer's surname in six tries, with a 6, 7 and 8-letter name every day.

Where the data comes from

Match ratings come from FotMob. Fixtures, results and league tables are checked against official and public sources such as the Premier League, BBC Sport and club websites. If you spot a mistake, please tell us and we'll fix it.

UnderPar is an independent game. We aren't connected to, or endorsed by, the Premier League, FotMob or any football club. Club and player names are used only to say who is who.
