UnderParby Journeyman

Privacy policy

Last updated 17 October 2026

We collect as little about you as we can. You can play every game on UnderPar without an account, and that play is saved only on your own device.

Who we are

UnderPar (underpar.uk) is run by Harry O'Connor, trading as Journeyman, based in the United Kingdom. We are the "controller" of the personal information described here. You can contact us about anything in this policy at contact@underpar.uk.

What we collect and why

When you play without an account

Your teams, guesses and puzzle progress are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device, so you can come back to them. They aren't sent to us. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser's site data for underpar.uk.

When you sign in

Private leagues and leaderboards need an account. To create one we ask for:

Sign-in codes are stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form and expire after 15 minutes. Once you've signed in, a random sign-in token is kept in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, for up to 6 months, so you stay signed in. We keep only a scrambled copy of it.

We use this only to run the game. Our legal basis is that it's needed to provide the service you asked for. We won't sell your information, and we won't send you marketing emails unless you've separately said yes.

When you email us

We keep your message and email address so we can reply and deal with what you've asked.

Technical information

Like every website, our hosting provider receives basic technical details when you visit, such as your IP address and browser type. They're used to deliver the site and keep it secure, and Cloudflare keeps short-lived request logs for the same reason. We don't keep our own logs of IP addresses. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't track you across other websites.

Cookies and advertising

UnderPar doesn't set any advertising or tracking cookies today. We may show adverts from Google AdSense in the future to help pay for the site. If we do:

We'll update this policy before any of that starts.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site, and they handle data only on our instructions:

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. When they do, they use the legal safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK's approved data transfer agreements.

We'll only share your information with anyone else if the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

Email contact@underpar.uk to use any of these rights. We'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

UnderPar is for players aged 13 and over. We don't knowingly create accounts for children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has given us their information, please contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if anything changes, and change the date at the top. If a change affects your account, we'll tell you before it takes effect.
